Wednesday, May 18th - Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center Meanderings Farm Walk - Reptiles & Amphibians - Outdoor intepretive walks exploring the Josie Porter Farm property. Walks are open to the public and held the third Wednesday of the month May-October from 4 pm - 6 pm. Cost is $6/non-members and $4/members of EE Center or members of the CSA program, children under 12 free.
Saturday, May 28th - Membership Picnic and Potluck - Open to all CSA and Buying Club members, family and friends. Enjoy the farm before the main season begins - Visit with Farmer Heidi & Gary, enjoy a farm tour, play games and have fun! Bring a dish to share, an instrument to play music around the fire in the evening and good cheer! 4 pm - evening bonfire. Dinner served at 5:00.
Saturday, June 11th - Cherry Valley Festival - Held at the farm, celebrating the unique & natural environmental
qualities of the valley and raising awareness of conservation efforts underway.
The Festival will run from
10 AM to 5 PM, rain or shine. It will be a fun-filled
day with family activities designed for the participation of children and
adults. Planned events include
educational speakers, nature walks, farm tours, demonstrations, and environmentally themed
vendors, arts and crafts. In addition, there will be food and beverages available. Live entertainment throughout the day will be
provided by strolling musicians from the Pocono Bluegrass &
Folk Society. The festival is free to the public. Admission is free; plenty of
a golf cart shuttle service make it easy to get around.
Sunday, June 12th - Farm to Table Tasting Luncheon with Jazz - Noon to 4 pm - An elegant Farm-to-Table Tasting event featuring local foods and chefs on the farm located in beautiul Cherry Valley. A variety of small plates, sure to appeal to our community of conscious eaters, will be served. Executive Chef Daniel Mattrocce of Lanes End Farm kitchen will prepare intriguing tapas featuring an assortment of fresh-from-the-farm foods sourced from the Josie Porter Farm and their family of growers and producers. Daniel's Manhattan catering company, DM Cuisine, is renowned at celebrity events in New York City.
In addition, Chef Proprietor Salvatore Cinquemani of Foulks Sheep Hill Farm will prepare special lamb entrees from his Texel & Dorset crossed lamb. Drinks will be provided to compliment the menu plus a variety of beers from ShawneeCraft Brewing Company and local award winning wines from Sorrentis Cherry Valley Vineyards may be samples.
Guests may also enjoy visiting with the Chefs as well as the growers who helped provide the meal. In addition, live music will be provided by local jazz ensemble Nancy and Spencer Reed, plus the Organic Planet Duo. Farm tours and a guided nature walk with naturalist Don Miller will also be offered. Several vendors from the farms June 11 Festival will remain onsite to provide additional offerings and entertainment.
A portion of the proceeds ($10 of every ticket) will be donated to the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) toward PASA 's 5-year plan to advance sustainable agriculture education. We will be selling a limited number of tickets for the event.
