June 10: Cherry Valley Festival: On Saturday, June 10,
the sixth annual Cherry Valley Festival will be held to celebrate the unique natural environmental
qualities of the valley and raise awareness of conservation efforts underway.
TheFestival is hosted at the Josie Porter Farm, 6514 Cherry Valley Road, Stroudsburg, PA., and will run from 10 AM to 5 PM,
rain or shine. It will be a fun-filled
day with family activities designed for the participation of children and
adults. Planned events include
educational speakers, nature walks, farm tours, demonstrations, and environmentally themed
vendors, arts and crafts. In addition, there will be food and beverages available. Live entertainment throughout the day will be
provided by strolling musicians from the Pocono Bluegrass &
Folk Society. The festival is free to the public. Admission is free; plenty of
parking and a golf cart shuttle
service make it easy to get around.
June 11: Farm-to-Table Tasting Event : On Sunday, June 11, noon to 4 p.m. the Josie Porter Farm
will host an elegant Farm-to-Table Tasting event featuring local foods and
chefs on the farm located in beautiful Cherry Valley. A variety of small plates, sure to appeal to
our community of conscious eaters, will be served. Executive Chef Daniel Mattrocce of Lanes End
Farm kitchen and his Manhattan based catering company, will prepare intriguing
tapas featuring an assortment of fresh-from-the-farm foods sourced from the
Josie Porter Farm and their family of growers and producers. Chef Mike Abate of
the Pocono Supper Club will offer gourmet organic vegetarian plates; and, Chef
Proprietor Salvatore Cinquemani of Foulks Sheep Hill Farm will prepare special
lamb entrées from his Texel & Dorset crossed lamb. Exceptional libations will be provided to
compliment the menu. Guests may also enjoy visiting with the Chefs as well as
the growers who helped provide the meal.
In addition, enjoy live music by the Organic Planet Duo. Farm tours will also be offered. Several vendors from the farms June 10
festival will remain onsite to provide additional offerings and
entertainment. A portion of the proceeds
($5 of every ticket) will be donated to the Pennsylvania Association for
Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) toward PASAs mission to advance sustainable
agriculture education. We will be selling a limited number of tickets for the
